How do I prepare for an auction?
Do not throw anything away; we do not mind dirt, dust, or clutter. Some of the best finds are buried under 50 years of dust.

Leave as many of the best items as possible; this has a dual purpose. First, it will help net more money for an estate. Second, it will increase interest in the auction, making for larger number of attendees and higher prices on all items.

Leaving the better items will allow you to invest the return in items that are of a higher priority.

Auctions are an ideal way to let friends and family bid on something from the estate and relieve the pressure of deciding who will get what, saving you from any hard feelings. The sooner the date is set the easier it is to tell them that it has already been committed, giving them a reason to attend.

How to sell at an auction?
Discuss with other decision makers what your goals would be. For instance your goals might be; fast turn around time, maintaining an image or reputation, maximizing return, waiting until the opportune time, promotional concerns, costs, or others unique to the situation.

Give us a call or come by with the details about your situation; letting us know what your goals and priorities are will enable us to help you the best.

Many times it will be necessary to arrange for a second meeting; allowing us time to reflect on your unique situation and prepare a detailed proposal. Due to the fact that every situation has so many variables a unique proposal will be provided for each potential auction.

Have all decision makers attend the meeting. Allowing them to hear the ideas and understand the benefits first hand. Then they can ask the questions that are on their mind.

The sooner a date is set for the auction the more attention and publicity can be received.

Remove items that will not be sold if possible.

Can I place a reserve or a minimum?
On occasion an item can have a reserve, although it must be published in all advertisements. Special cases where the item has a lien or money owed against it and we feel very confident that there is equity.

In selling a large amount of merchandise our goal is to get an above average price overall. In many situations if one item goes for lower then another will go high to make up for it.

Offering items with no reserves makes it fair for the buyer and seller. By holding a no minimum auction bidders feel that it is not a waste of time for them to show up to bid. In return they are more likely to come and pay a fair price.

In some cases we will guarantee a price over what you want. At the same time we offer it to the highest bidder and if it does not go over this price, we pay the difference to the seller.

Having strong business ethics is extremely important. We will never try to mislead our buyers.

We are very confident that, when conducted properly, the auction method is best for all parties involved.
